Cabin Quilts & Stitches came into existence nine years ago when my husband and I decided to "ease into retirement" and purchased a building in Grand Lake, Co which housed two businesses; the local hardware and the wine & spirits store. After much remodeling the hardware store soon became known as "the quilt store" - the shop which features all sorts of items that "a woman" would want for herself, her friends, and her grandchildren. I had never owned nor worked in the retail business before. I just decided to develop my two passions - one of creating quilts and hand made articles out of fabric, and the second of shopping, shopping and shopping some more. This store has given me a way to expand both of these passions and has brought me from being Ken's wife, and Andy and Erik's mom, to Judy Jensen store owner and CEO of my own business. My plan was that I hoped I could succeed at this new adventure, which meant be able to turn a profit in what I loved doing. I guess I just believed that if you built a quilt store, were friendly to your patrons, had quality fabric and gifts and featured plenty of customer service - the quilters would come and give you their support. When we moved to Grand Lake full time Ken & I were in our early fifties. Our kids were out of the house, had jobs and were beginning to get married. Now we have just turned sixty, have a four year old granddaughter and a grandson on the way. We are enjoying life to the fullest in this beautiful town in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Life, Quilting & Shopping are Good!!!! Judy |
